Weather Conditions

Friday January 15, 2021

Mostly cloudy

Temp: Hi 37˚ Low 27˚

Wind: WNW 13-18 mph

The shad are hard to find. Use a jerkbait on steeper main lake banks. There are fish shallow 12-15’ deep. Keep the boat in 25-30’ and cast to the bank. Cover as much water as possible if you get a bite fish that area thoroughly there should be more than one active fish. Also try an A-rig in these same areas.

Sun and patchy clouds

Temp: Hi 39˚ Low 26˚

Wind: WNW 7-10 mph

With the wind being lighter this is the best day to look for deeper fish. The deeper fish have scattered some due to the shad being pulled onto the main lake. The generation is pulling out the shad. Using electronics look on the main lake near creek mouths to find the shad and deeper fish. The target depth will be 40’-80’ feet deep but could extend to over 100’ deep. The suspended fish should be 30-50’ deep but could be as deep as 80’. Use a small swimbait on a heavy lead head or a vertical jigging spoon. A vertical presentation at these depths is best.

Partial sunshine

Temp: Hi 42˚ Low 28˚

Wind: WNW 9-14 mph

With the sun find channel swing banks closer to the mouth of larger creeks and use a jig or A-rig on those banks. Position the boat from 30-40’ deep. Fish the jig and A-rig slow. Being around deep trees will help to hold fish.
