Weather Conditions

Friday March 26, 2021

Partly sunny

Temp: Hi 66˚ Low 49˚

Wind: SSE 7-10 mph

The fish are really positioned on the inside of points that are either main lake or secondary points. The better locations have mixed rock. Scrubbing a swimbait is a good bet to catch these fish. Keep the boat 25’-30’ deep and cast to the bank. The fish could be very shallow as the water begins to warm especially in water that has some stain. Run the points looking for active shad and fish. This is the type of deal where you can hit three spots with zero bites then hit the right spot and get five.

Warmer with sunshine and patchy clouds

Temp: Hi 77˚ Low 41˚

Wind: WSW 7-12 mph

The fish are in a transition mode and slowly beginning to move to shallower areas. Try a split-shot, shakey head or ned rig on mixed rock or gravel banks. Key on secondary points and if there is a gut near a secondary point fish the middle of gut, this is where the biggest fish will be positioned. Position the boat in 20-25’ of water and cast to about 5’ of water.

Sunday March 28, 2021

Mostly sunny and nice

Temp: Hi 66˚ Low 41˚

Wind: NNW 6-9 mph

The wind shift and cooler temps will push the fish a little deeper but they should not leave the same general areas they have been. This is a good day to scrub a swimbait or grub. Do not overlook throwing an A-rig, this bite is starting to go away but could still trigger a few bites. If the water generation is still heavy key on the inside of secondary points. If the generation slows look for the fish to scatter in those same areas. Position the boat a little deeper in the 25’-30’ feet of water range but still cast to 5’-10’ deep.
