Weather Conditions

Friday May 21, 2021

Cloudy in the morning, then times of clouds and sun in the afternoon

Temp: Hi 79˚ Low 66˚

Wind: SSE 8-10 mph

In the morning use the clouds to your advantage and fish a topwater bait. Use whatever you are most comfortable with wake bait, zara spook or popping bait. If the fish are actively feeding on top they will eat any of those baits. Key on secondary gravel points. Once the sun comes out switch to the small swimbait in those same areas.

Sun and areas of clouds in the morning, then mostly sunny afternoon

Temp: Hi 81˚ Low 61˚

Wind: SSE 6-9 mph

This could be a good day to head to the river arms and look for any dirty water that may be coming in from the rain. If the lake comes up some the fish may go back to the bushes or fish those secondary points in creek arms on main river points for post spawn fish. Use a series of shaky heads and jigs to trigger bites. If in the bushes flip soft plastic baits such as sweet beavers or brush hogs.

Periods of clouds and sun

Temp: Hi 79˚ Low 62˚

Wind: S 6-9 mph

Look for shallow gravel flats. The fish could be actively feeding on in the morning. Use a shaky head, Ned rig and swimbait. The fish could be as shallow as 5’ deep or out to 25’ of water. Use 3/16 or 1/4oz lead head with a Keitech 3.3 in any shad color you prefer. Cast it out and reel it back keeping it from 5-15’ feet deep. If the sun comes out or the bite slows stay in the same areas you were catching fish but switch to the Ned rig or shaky head and keep it on the bottom.
