Dull and dreary with a thunderstorm

Temp: Hi 82˚ Low 68˚

Wind: SSW 8-12 mph

The water is essentially out of the bushes use the overcast day to your advantage. On the main lake key on gravel flat banks and points with a with a 6” soft swimbait. Use the type of soft swimbait that has the lead inside the body. Cast the bait shallow and scrub the bottom with the bait. Do not expect many bites but the fish you catch will be larger fish. This bite is better if they are pulling water at a heavy generation level. The fish on can be from 5’-25’ of water, but the key depth is 10’-15’ deep.

Rather cloudy with widely separated thunderstorms

Temp: Hi 84˚ Low 69˚

Wind: ENE 5-7 mph

There is a shallow topwater bite in the river arms. With the water dropping the bushes are barely in the water. Cast along the bank or just outside the bushes. Use a buzzbait, whopper plopper or walk the dog bait. The fish are very shallow. A good back up to the topwater is Texas rigging a big plum colored worm. The great thing about the worm is you can catch fish from 5’-25’ deeper.

Times of clouds and sun with a thunderstorm

Temp: Hi 86˚ Low 68˚

Wind: SSW 5-7 mph

With this being the day with the most sun it could push the fish deeper or under docks. Making it a good time to try a 5” or 6” flutter spoon. A sexy shad or white colored flutter spoon should do the trick. Fish the bait in open dock stalls or no long gravel points. The bait can be fished comfortably from 10’-40’ deep. Mostly people will rip the bait hard however a key is it doesn’t take much to trigger a strike. Fish the bait near the bottom or for suspended fish.
