Weather Conditions
Friday May 12, 2023
Mostly cloudy, humid and warmer with widely separated thunderstorms
Temp: Hi 83˚ Low 65˚
Wind SSW 8-16 mph
Try a small swimbait, chatterbait or spinnerbait in the river arms of the lake. Look for fish on steeper
banks and channel swing banks. These fish are on the move after spawning. Cover lots of water doing
this until you find active fish. Once you find active fish you should be able to get multiple bites in that
area. Use baits in shad color and just keep searching.
Saturday May 13, 2023
Cloudy and humid with separated thunderstorms
Temp: Hi 79˚ Low 63˚
Wind: SSW 5-8 mph
The topwater bite is starting to take shape but the fish want it more subtle than normal. The Pop R and
surge shad seem to be the best options right now. This bite does not last too long into the day although
on a cloudy days it does last longer. Look for docks that have shad spawning on the ends. Also look for
surfacing fish in general. Focus on main lake pockets or larger creek arms that have secondary points. If
you get a couple of bites focus on that area otherwise keep looking for new areas. The fish are in full on
post spawn feeding mode.
Sunday May 14, 2023
A thunderstorm in spots in the morning; otherwise, mostly cloudy and humid
Temp: Hi 80˚ Low 62˚
Wind: W 5-10 mph
The lake level has been slowly rising over the last few days due to rain and water coming in from Beaver
Lake. Pick a river a river arm and do some old school jig fishing. Look for the few bushes that are in the
water or the ends of channel swing banks. Another area with fish are 45˚ degree mixed rock banks.
These fish seem to be less than 5’ deep but can be out as deep at 15’. These fish are aggressive and hot
once you get a bite.
