If you can find a shad spawn happening there are fish to be caught. It does seem to vary a bit from day- to-day where the shad are spawning. If you find this throw a small swimbait around and through the shad. The fish may not be on the surface but they are very active feeding on these shad. The shad spawn may only last a few hours early in the morning but this bite can last well into the day. Use a 1/4oz lead head and a 2.8 or 3.3 Keitech in a shad color and you can find bites.

Temp: Hi 80˚ Low 53˚
Wind: E 6-10 mph
The topwater bite varies from day-to-day but there are several fish to be caught doing it. With this day being cloudy it might last most of the day. In the clear water there are couple of key baits to throw. The walk the dog type of bait, like a Vixen, Zara Spook or Shower blow. Focus on rounded secondary or main lake points that have timber. If in a river arm try a frog style bait or popping bait in shallow dirtier water. Being in the stained water is the key to the shallow bite.

Sunday May 28, 2023
Times of clouds and sun
Temp: Hi 85˚ Low 59˚
Wind: E 5-10 mph
Pick any river arm on the lake dig out a Carolina Rig. Use a brush hog or bulkier creature bait in green pumpkin and be sure to put chartreuse on the tips of the tentacles. Use an 18”-24” leader and a heavy enough weight to get the bait to the bottom quickly and to keep in on the bottom, but not so big that it gets hung in the rocks. A 1/2oz weight should be about right. Keep the boat in about 25’ of water and cast to point dragging the bait on the bottom. The bite can be a tap, or the bait just feels weird or heavy. Pay close attention and if it feels strange set the hook.
