Times of clouds and sun
Temp: Hi 83˚ Low 63˚
Wind: SE 6-9 mph
The more sun the better for the spoon bite. The big and the little spoon bite is pretty good right now. The better bite is with the smaller spoon. Use a Jewel Scuba spoon around docks or pods of fish. The fish seem to be most active around the docks where shad are present. You can catch fish both vertically and horizontally cast the spoon right now. The larger spoon in dock slips is slower bite but better quality. Pitch into the boat slip and give it a full send then pop it back and keep moving.
Saturday June 10, 2023
Humid with times of clouds and sun; a couple of thunderstorms in the afternoon.
Temp: Hi 84˚ Low 66˚
Wind: SSW 6-10 mph
There is a drop shot bite has gotten pretty strong pretty quick. The fish seem to be from 20’-40’ deep. Look on long points that go to the old river channel. Right on the roll off is where good group of fish are stacking up. If you find the long points with timber all the better. The bigger rock at the roll off is where the fish seem to be located. Use a shad colored drop shot bait
Sunday June 11, 2023
A morning thunderstorm; otherwise mostly cloudy and humid
Temp: Hi 77˚ Low 58˚
Wind: W 7-13 mph
The topwater bite has not been great this year but it is still hanging around. Popping style and walking the dog style baits in white or bone seem to be getting the bites. This bite is best early in the day and around docks. It also goes away quickly unless it’s overcast. Once the topwater bite fades use small swimbaits to still catch fish. The fish with be somewhere in the water column for a while so just fish at the depth where you see the pods of active fish. Use a 1/4oz lead head and 2.8 swimbait to get bite. This can also be scrubbed to get bites as well.
