The dock bite continues to be an excellent way to catch fish this summer. The hotter and sunnier the day the better the bite can be. A slab spoon and the flutter spoon are the two options around docks. The slab spoon has be really effective around the docks by keying in on the open dock slips, the shade line created by the dock and the dock cables. This bite is best when they are generating water but the bite is there all day long. The fish want it fast so plan on covering water and key on the larger commercial docks or just bigger docks over deeper water.

Temp: Hi 94˚ Low 72˚

If you look closely in pockets around the lake you can find bluegill beds. Some are in large in area maybe 20-30 in small area. In these same areas are bass cruising for these bluegill. This is why the Whopper Plopper can be so good on Table Rock. Plan on covering a lot of water, look for protected areas and pockets and get after it. Make long casts don’t slow down just keep grinding when you run into an active fish it will bite just make it count. The Virtus/Jewel Ploppin and Choppin rod really makes a difference with the Plopper because of how far you can cast the bait. That is so important to catch this topwater fish all day long during this time of the year.
Sunday August 27, 2023
A morning shower in the area otherwise cooler but humid with more clouds than sun
Temp: Hi 80˚ Low 64˚
Wind: E 5-9 mph
The shallow bite in the river arms is still solid. With the water dropping it might be fading. Throw a Buzzbait early around wood cover or along shallow flatter banks. As the day wears on try a square bill in these same areas. Plan on covering lots of water while still fishing the wood cover thoroughly. This is a really fun way to fish in the summer and due to lower water levels, it has really positioned the fish. Bluegill colored crankbaits seem to be working the best.
