There is a shallow top water bite happening. It’s a fickle bite and can be a one-day-to-the-next type of deal. Cover lots of water with the Whopper Plopper the fish are just pulling the bait under, do not expect aggressive bites. Steeper banks with ledge and good and really focus on small pockets or in-and-outs along those same banks. Even the slightest banks changes can hold fish. Black seems to be the best color option.

Humid; a heavy thunderstorm in the afternoon
Temp: Hi 85˚ Low 64˚
Wind: S 8-16 mph
The football jig and Carolina rig bite is happening all over the lake. In the rivers and on the main lake. The key dept is 25’ of water. Fish don’t seem to be any deeper than that but can be a little shallower. Keep the bait on the bottom but don’t be worried about hopping it occasionally and use some orange on the pinchers. Key on the long gravel points all over the lake.

Temp: Hi 73˚ Low 61˚

It’s early in the year but a Wart/Crawler bite is beginning to happen. These fish are shallow and can be in clear water or stained water. Cast the bait to the bank and crank it back, keeping it in close contact with the bottom. These fish are aggressive, and it can take going through several shorts to get a keeper but once you do get a keeper it can be a quality fish. Stick with the natural colors and its best to have a little orange on the bait. The Virtus/Jewel Wart/Crawler rod really shines in this situation. It allows for a very long cast and the ability to control the fish to the boat.
