Weather Conditions
Friday June 16, 2023

A couple of showers and a thunderstorm in the morning; otherwise humid with more clouds than sun
Temp: Hi 87˚ Low 63˚
Wind: ESE 6-10 mph
The big worm bite is gaining right now. A good place to start is brushpiles on points in 15’-25’ of water. This bite seems to be better in the river arms, it is probably due to the color or water. Use a 3/8 to ½ oz weight on 15lb fluorocarbon line. Make long casts and keep the bait on the bottom. When going through a brushpile fish the bait slow enough to not get it hung in the brushpile. The bite can range from very aggressive to no feeling, so be prepared to set the hook. Plum seems to be the best color.

Saturday June 17, 2023

Rather cloudy and humid with a couple of thunderstorms
Temp: Hi 87˚ Low 64˚
Wind: SSE 7-15 mph
The drop shot bite has gotten very consistent around the lake. It seems now that is the fish are deeper, they are preferring the vertical presentation.  These fish are from 20’-40’ deep. Look on long points that go to the old river channel. Right on the roll off is where good groups of fish are stacked up. If you find the long points with timber all the better. These fish can be moving around on these roll offs but once you get the school fired up you can catch several fish out of one group. A shad colored or plum colored worm seem to work the best.

Sunday June 18, 2023

Watch for strong thunderstorms, humid and variable cloudiness.
Temp: Hi 79˚ Low 63˚
Wind: WSW 7-14 mph
The Jewel Live Spin bite has taken off now that is the fish are all in post spawn mode. This has been great at catching fish two ways. One if the fish are roaming and you can cast to the fish from a long way letting the bait fall into the fish and working it back. The other is a more vertical presentation. Once you are over the fish send it straight down the fish have been coming up to get the bait. The fish that do this tend to be a bite deeper, maybe out to 35’ deep.
