The new Jewel Pee Wee football HD is catching fish right now. Any roll off into the old river channel is a great place to start. These fish can be anywhere from 15’-30’ deep. It varies from day-to-day. Use either the 1/2oz or 5/8oz Pee Wee HD for these 15’-30’ depth ranges. Make long casts and have the bait on the bottom. The Jewel Versa Craw trailer is the best in the junior size. It has a larger profile to push more water.

Drop shotting is a very consistent way to catch fish right now, but the depths are very specific. The overall depths are 40’-70’ deep with the fish being 25’-35’ deep. The fish can be in trees or on the ends of the large commercial docks. Use a 1/4oz weight to get the bait to the depth quickly. Use a shad-colored worm or the standard plum. Plum has been working well lately. If the fish don’t seem interested come back to those fish later. This is a timing deal and if you pull up on the right spot you can catch several fish quickly.

Sunday July 9, 2023

Cloudy and humid with a couple of showers.
Temp: Hi 82˚ Low 66˚
Wind: N 5-7 mph
Summertime means a big worm. This is a great way to catch fish right now even on the hottest of days. The key to catching better quality fish on the big worm is brushpiles, but you don’t need brushpiles to catch fish. Fish can also be caught fishing the big worm on the roll offs in the river arms. If the water is clearer the brushpiles are needed to get bites. Use worms from 8”-12” in length, a 5/16-1/2oz weight seems to be best. Plum is the best color, but purple and red colors also work well. Fish from 15’-25’ deep and in or around the brush.
