This year has been a great spoon year. The little slab spoon can really catch fish in a hurry. The white Jewel scuba spoon seems to work the best, because of the size. Fish the spoon around larger commercial docks, key in on the shady side of those docks. If there are open slips you can also pitch it into those slips. It is also very good to have if the fish surface or you see fish active on forward facing sonar to cast at those active fish. The spoon fish tend to be 25’-35’ deep in 40’-70’ of water. They can be in open water or near trees.

The big worm in any river arm is a solid bite right now. The bigger the worm the better but a 10” worm is where to begin if you prefer a larger worm do not be afraid to use it. The weight for the big worm is important. You need it large enough to get the bait down but not too heavy to get hung up in rocks. 5/16oz to 7/16oz tungsten weight is about right. Keep the bait on the bottom if you find a brush pile fish it slow to not get hung up. After you just get throw the brush pile rip the bait up and let it fall sometimes it will trigger a strike. It seems 15’-30’ deep is the range.

Temp: Hi 91˚ Low 68˚
Wind: NW 7-10 mph
The drop shot is consistent right now, but there are some specific details. The fish are 25’-35’ deep, over depths of 40’-70’. The fish can be in trees, on gravel flats that roll off into the old river channels or on the ends of the large commercial docks. High sky sunny days are the best for the drop shot. The fish tend to position around the docks or the trees. Use a 1/4oz weight to get the bait to the depth quickly. Use a shad-colored worm or the standard plum. Plum has been working well lately. Don’t get stuck in one spot too long. If you catch several stay with them until they stop but don’t be afraid to check other areas.
