Weather Conditions
Friday October 27, 2023
Periods of sun, a couple of showers and a thunderstorm, later in the day
Temp: Hi 81˚ Low 51˚
Wind: WSW 8-20 mph
The drop-shot bite is still consistent, but it has changed a bit as the lake has cooled. The fish are a bit deeper than they were but still on the gravel. Look for longer gravel points that could go out to 60’-70’ deep. Trees are not needed but can make it better, it seems trees that in 40’ of water are best. You can find smaller groups of fish on one tree that can be active. It is a good idea to continue moving to new spots. The key zone for the fish is 25’-30’ deep. It is best to cast to the fish and not to sit vertically right over the fish. Try to make the come in right over the top of the fish. A plum or purple worm seems to be working the best.
Saturday October 28, 2023
Cloudy and cooler with a couple of showers and a heavy thunderstorm
Temp: Hi 62˚ Low 46˚
Wind: ESE 6-15 mph
There is a decent jig bite in the river arms. Look for docks in 10’ of water or less and channel swing banks. The fish will be shallow but seem to want to be close to deeper water. Use a Jewel 5/16oz AJ jig in any color with brown in it. Whatever trailer you choose to use put a little orange on the tip of the pinchers. Pay close attention to the bait on the fall. If the line stops or swims off, set the hook. Otherwise fish the jig on the bottom.
Sunday October 29, 2023
Cloudy and chilly with a couple of showers.
Temp: Hi 47˚ Low 29˚
Wind: NNW 8-17 mph
Its windy, cold and nasty and that makes it a perfect Table Rock fishing day. Use a War Eagle spinnerbait in the Mouse color and cover as much water as possible. Key in on points and mixed rock banks that have the wind hitting directly on the bank. Keep moving fish the bigger rocks under the water and wood cover a little more thoroughly. The best thing to do is just cover as much water as possible. Main lake and larger creek and rivers arms should be best.
