The drop-shot bite is still consistent, and seems to be better on sunny days. Key on gravel points with timber that are in 30’-50’ of water. The fish can be suspended in the trees at times around the 20’ range but most of the fish are on the bottom. Just give the bait a full send to the bottom engage the reel and start working the fish. If they are in an active mood they will come up and get the bait on the fall.

Pleasant with more sun than clouds
Temp: Hi 68˚ Low 52˚
Wind: SSW 7-14 mph
There are two jig bites happening. One is using a smaller finesse jig in the river arms and the other is a football jig in gravel and mixed rock points. The football jig bite is more consistent, but it happens best on days when the smallmouth is most active. Fish gravel and mixed rock banks in the 18’-25’ range. This is a deal where you will have to move around to find bites and once you do you can catch 2-3 on one spot. The new Jewel Pee Wee Football HD in a 1/2oz size has been the best.

The shad are not yet in the giant wintertime groups yet but there are pods of shad around. Following those shad are smaller groups of bass, usually five fish or less. Once found these fish are catchable fish and tend to be in an active mood. Use a Keitech 2.8 swimbait in a shad color on a 1/4oz head to target this these fish. Once spotted on Forward Facing Sonar cast beyond the fish and bring the bait down to them, they tend to bite the bait on the fall.
