There is deep bite that is really picking up quickly due to the water temperatures dropping. Target major creek arms from the mouth to about halfway back. To catch these fish you must find the shad. Use FFS to find the shad. Once you have found shad you will find active fish, but you must stay with the shad. These fish are moving quickly and aggressively. It seems to be day dependent, but ice jigs, jig head minnows and slab spoons seem to be working best. So plan on figuring out which bait they want that day. Baits in the 3”-4” range is the right size. Plan on searching throughout the day.

The Rock Crawler bite continues to be lake wide and a solid way to catch fish as the water temperatures continue to drop. Channel swing banks in creek arms is a good place to start. These fish are shallow and active, especially on windblown banks. The fish are 10’-15’ deep. Plan on covering a lot of water in the day but, when you catch a fish, you can usually catch a couple in that general area. Plan on covering a lot of water to get bites. PB&J or red craw seem to be the best colors.

Low clouds.
Temp: Hi 44˚ Low 28˚
Wind: N 8-18 mph
The glide bait is still working but it won’t be around much longer. However the quality of fish is better than average. To get these bites plan on covering a lot of water during the day. Key on channel swing banks that have wood cover. These fish tend to be shallow with most bites coming in 5’-10’ of water. Use shad colored baits but add a little splash of color, such as red or yellow to the underside of the bait.
