The deep bite is the best bite all over the lake. You can catch numbers and quality fishing do this. Be able to adjust. The fish are moving fast and change slightly from day-to-day. Target the middle of major creek channels in the fish half of the creek. In some cases this can be a large area, so plan on moving quickly to locate the fish. Plan on using heavier baits the fish can be from 30’-80’ deep. Shad being around helps but is not required to catch the fish. There are two key baits--an ice jig or a jig head and minnow to catch these fish. Depth and fall rate are what determines which works better at any time during the day. Do not be afraid to go searching for new fish and do not let depth discourage you.

Sunshine.
Temp: Hi 47˚ Low 26˚
Wind: NNW 7-13 mph
The A-rig bite continues to improve and expand where it will catch fish. Target channel swings and docks with deep water below them. Most of the fish are suspended in 15’ of water or less. Use FFS to locate or see the fish and cast beyond them it is very important to keep the A-rig to trigger the strikes. Keep the four outer baits smaller and more natural shad colors. For the one in the middle or farthest back use a size larger and either make it lighter or darker in color. Steady retrieve gets the bite.
Sunday January 4, 2026
Partial sunshine.
Temp: Hi 51˚ Low 37˚
Wind: SE 7-16 mph
The Rock Crawler bite is better than the wiggle wart bite. It seems the fish are a little deeper and the Rock Crawler will get to the right depth. There are not a lot of bite doing this but the fish that are being caught are better quality on average. Target chunk rock and gravel mixed banks in 12’-18’ feet of water. This is a grind so keep covering a lot of water to the get the bites.
