Weather Conditions
Friday January 9, 2026

Mostly cloudy.
Temp: Hi 56˚ Low 35˚
Wind: NNE 6-12 mph
There is a jerkbait bite that is solid right now. Target main lake and secondary points throughout the lake.  Wind helps but this bite can be better on a sunny day. These fish are most catchable near some wood cover or higher in the water column in the 10’-20’ depths. Use your favorite color but it seems the +1 is working best. Don’t get caught staying in one spot too long, fish the point and move on.

Saturday January 10, 2026

Breezy and cooler with times of clouds and sun.
Temp: Hi 46˚ Low 23˚
Wind: NW 15-30 mph
The A-rig bite is around but the right conditions are needed for this to be best. It takes clouds and wind, and the wind really needs to be hitting the spots more directly. Target main lake and secondary points. These fish can be from 10’-40’ deep. Some will be on the bottom and others will be higher in the water column. Use FFS to locate or see the fish and cast beyond them it is very important to keep the A-rig moving to trigger the strikes. Smaller baits are working better. Use 2.8”-3.3” baits in a natural shad color. Using a larger bait in the middle or farthest back does seem to help. Steady retrieve gets the bite.

Sunday January 11, 2026

Plenty of sunshine.
Temp: Hi 40˚ Low 26˚
Wind: NNW 8-20 mph
The deep bite is still the best bite, but it has changed dramatically once they stopped pulling water. The fish are much more scattered and roaming. This is due to the shad being scattered as well. Search for shad that tends to be the key. Target creek arms from the mouth to about ¾ back. This is a large areas so move quickly to find the shad. The fish can be from 30’-60’ deep and in some cases even right on the bottom. The jig head and minnow seem to be working best and using a smaller bait seems to help. Keep searching for new fish all day.
