Weather Conditions
Friday January 23, 2026

Cloudy and colder with some late afternoon snow.
Temp: Hi 26˚ Low 6˚
Wind: NE 17-29 mph
The deep bite is still the best bite, but it changes daily. Adjustment is critical to staying on the fish. Focus the search at the mouth of larger creek arms to about halfway back in the creek. The fish are deeper. Shad are key to catching fish. So find the shad to find the fish. The bait seems to be in 30’-60’ of water suspended over 100’-150’ of water. The jig head and minnow and the ice jig seem to be working best. Use a smaller profile bait, smaller also seems to be better. Keep searching for new fish all day. The steady amount of water being pulled will help position the shad so they are not as scattered but will still be deep.

Saturday January 24, 2026

Colder with accumulating snow of 1-3”.
Temp: Hi 11˚ Low 5˚
Wind: ENE 8-15 mph
The A-rig bite is starting to get pretty good, but this extreme cold snap may change it. Target main lake and secondary points with timber and brush on them. The fish that will eat the A-rig are in 15’-30’ of water. Most of the fish will be around the wood cover or in the trees. There are a few that will be on the bottom if these fish come off the bottom they seem to be aggressive and eat the A-rig. Smaller baits are working better. Use 2.8”-3.3” baits in a natural shad color. Using a larger bait in the middle or farthest back does seem to help. Steady retrieve gets the bite. You can get multiple bites in one spot but plan on fishing many spots throughout the day. Windy days really help this bite.
