Weather Conditions
Friday January 12, 2024

Low clouds breezy and cooler with a bit of snow
Temp: Hi 41˚ Low 14˚
Wind: NWN 15-40 mph
A-rig alert. The A-rig bite is starting to show up. It is still in the early stages and requires some searching, but it is beginning. Look for isolated suspended fish they could be around trees on steeper banks or on steep transition bank and bluff ends. Once these isolated fish are located cast beyond the fish and bring the A-rig back to at the fishes depth or just above. Shad colored baits work best and maybe add some chartreuse to a tail or two. Also have a bait or two a different color. Plan on moving a lot during the day.

Saturday January 13, 2024

Colder with increasing amounts of sun
Temp: Hi 22˚ Low 1˚
Wind: NW 9-23 mph
The sun seems to help the deep bite, it gets the shad more active, and this gets the bass more active. Jewel Scuba Spoon and the Ice Jig seem to be the best baits right now. Focus on the main lake and secondary points where they roll off into the channel. These fish are 55’-70’ deep. When around the shad these fish can go from not interested to active quickly. Be prepared for it to happen fast or a spot that was not active becomes active. Shaking the bait or short hops seems to get the bites.

Sunday January 14, 2024

Colder with snow at times
Temp: Hi 9˚ Low 3˚
Wind: NNE 7-14 mph
In the river arms 10’-25’ deep there is a jig bite. Key on channel banks with wood cover. If the lake comes up a little this bite could improve for a short period of time before the cold temperatures push the water temperature down. A Jewel Pee Wee Spider HD in touchdown with a green pumpkin trailer. Add some orange to the pinchers. Keep the bait on the bottom and fish it slow. If it feels weird set the hook, the bite is very light.
