Weather Conditions
Friday March 6, 2026

Partly sunny and warm with afternoon thunderstorms.
Temp: Hi 75˚ Low 48˚
Wind: S 15-30 mph
There is a jerkbait bite, but it seems somewhat specific. If you see active roaming fish in 15’ or less water these are fish that can be caught on a jerkbait. The fish have really changed with the water temperatures going up so quickly this week. Focus on main lake and secondary points. The fish are in 8’-12’ of water. This bite seems better in the main lake and has clear water. White or bone colors seem to be best.

Saturday March 7, 2026

Rain and thunderstorms in the morning cooler and cloudy in the afternoon.
Temp: Hi 61˚ Low 40˚
Wind: NW 9-25 mph
With fresh water rolling in this might be the day to use a big spinnerbait in the backs of the creeks. Look for guts and creeks that have fresh water coming in. If there is color in the water all the better. Slow roll the spinner bait right down the middle of the gut or pocket as far back as you can go. Also don’t be afraid to try an A-rig or a jerkbait if the water is not dirty. Run this until it stops raining.

Sunday March 8, 2026

Warmer with times of clouds and sun.
Temp: Hi 71˚ Low 50˚
Wind: E 10-23 mph
The deep bite is still good, but it has changed. With the water warming so quickly the fish have scattered a bit and gotten shallower. The jig head and minnow seem to produce the best. Focus the search about halfway back in the major creek arms. The fish seem to be roaming more than relating to the cover like they were. The fish are generally in the 20’-30’ range over 60’-80’ of water. Shad are not as critical as they were a few weeks ago, but continue to use shad-colored baits. If the water is stained leave and look for water that clear.
