Smallmouth have just started to show up on the gravel chunk rock mixed banks. This fish are in 10’-20’ of water. There are not a ton of bites doing this yet, but that could change quickly with the warming trend. However the fish that do bite are great quality smallmouth. Use a 1/4oz head with a puke, green pumpkin or brown colored tubes. This more a main lake deal just start fishing gravel points that have mixed rock. This bite is better when they are pulling water.

Saturday March 21, 2026

Very warm and plenty of sunshine
Temp: Hi 84˚ Low 61˚
Wind: SSE 4-7 mph
The jighead minnow continues to catch good numbers of fish. These fish are on the move and really getting towards the back of major creek arms. It also seems the shad are coming back into play. Look for groups of shad and the fish are usually not far away. These fish are starting to suspend shallower. The fish are suspended in 5’-10’over 30’-40’ of water. This bite can be good early in the day and get slower as the day goes on. Use shad color baits. Don’t stay in one place too long, keep looking for new areas these fish are moving.

Sunday March 22, 2026

Plenty of sunshine.
Temp: Hi 86˚ Low 43˚
Wind: W 12-28 mph
The crankbait bite is getting pretty good. This bite can be good one day and gone the next so moving around seems to help stay on fish. Target channel swings banks especially if they have wind blowing in on them. Use crawfish-colored crankbaits. These fish are 5’-10’ deep. Don’t overlook making a cast in a gravel pocket especially in the river arms.
