The crankbait bite continues to stay strong. The location of the fish is what is changing. Target transition banks about half-way back in the creeks. Having wind and slightly stained water helps this bite tremendously. Use crawfish-colored crankbaits. These fish are 5’-10’ deep. Don’t overlook making a cast in a gravel pocket especially in the river arms.
Saturday April 4, 2026
Cloudy with rain
Temp: Hi 59˚ Low 40˚
Wind: NW 12-28 mph
The jig head minnow bite keeps on rolling, and it could get better as fish finish spawning. Look in the major creek arms and specifically in the areas just outside of spawning pockets. Look for shad. If you find shad you will find fish. These fish are shallow and moving a lot, but when you find them they are catchable. Plan on going to multiple spots in day to stay on the fish. Use your favorite plastic shad colored bait.
Sunday April 5, 2026
Plenty of sunshine.
Temp: Hi 61˚ Low 40˚
Wind: NNW 8-23 mph
The full moon just happened, and fish moved up quickly this week. So fish could be on beds. Target gravel pockets with Ned rig, split shot rig or a shakey head to get bites. These fish are in 2’-20’ of water. Use as light a weight as possible on whatever way you prefer to fish. The best color is green pumpkin with a little chartreuse.
