Weather Conditions
Friday May 22, 2026

Cloudy with a couple of showers.
Temp: Hi 71˚  Low 58˚
Wind: NE 6-9 mph
The shad spawn continues to be solid but short lived in the mornings. These cloudy days will help the bite to last a little longer. If the sun is out early, target or search for shady areas. Target main lake banks or larger pocket with docks. It seems the best baits are a chatterbait or spinnerbait have been the best baits. Topwater baits are also working and seem to be better on days with less wind. Popper style baits and walk-the-dog baits seem to be the best. White or bone seems to be the color. This bite is driven by the shad, finding active shad is the key.

Saturday May 23, 2026

Mostly cloudy and humid with a thunderstorm.
Temp: Hi 78˚  Low 61˚
Wind: NE 5-9 mph
The deep dock bite is coming on fast and becoming a very consistent bite. Target community or larger docks that are on channel swing banks. This can be in creeks or on the main lake. This bite is better on sunny days. It’s not that the bite is any better, it’s just that the sun positions these fish in the shady areas of these deeper docks. Use a flutter spoon or jigging spoon to catch these fish. Watch your line closely these fish are not that deep under the dock. The fish are 6’-10’ deep in water out to 50’.

Sunday May 24, 2026

Cloudy with a thunderstorm.
Temp: Hi 79˚  Low 61˚
Wind: SE 6-8 mph
There is a swimbait bite showing up on the main lake gravel points. With the overcast conditions and water being pulled this bite should be solid. Usually this is where the 5-6 inch swim bait will shine, but it seems the 2.8-3.3 Keitech is working better. These fish are generally in 10’-20’ of water. This is a run and gun deal. Hitting a lot of points in one day to find these small groups of active fish. It can be fun when it gets rolling. Use your favorite shad-colored baits.
