The deep crankbait bite has been good. With the Corp slowing pulling water this could change this bite. These fish have been in 15’-25’ of water. Key on channel swing point and gravel roll-offs in the river arms. This is also a timing deal. If you hit the right spot at the right time, it can be fast action and a lot of fun. Use a deep diving crankbait with plenty of chartreuse and a blue or black back. The more the bait crashes into the bottom the better. Plan on bouncing to several spots throughout the day.
Saturday June 27, 2026
Sunshine with some clouds with a thunderstorm, very humid.
Temp: Hi 88˚ Low 74˚
Wind: SSE 8-18 mph
The drop-shot bite is really good way to catch fish quickly and in good numbers. The fish are in 15’-30’ of water off main lake points. This is more at the lower end of the lake and not as much in the river arms. Brush piles on these main lake points are also holding fish. Look for the roaming fish, they seem to be more aggressive before trying to get the brush pile fish to bite. Use a shad shape worm in a shad color or a little plum worm.
Sunday June 28, 2026
Mostly sunny and humid.
Temp: Hi 91˚ Low 72˚
Wind: S 10-23 mph
The flutter spoon is also a good way to get bites right now. Target the same areas as mentioned for the deep crankbait. There are also some fish on the deep timber. The flutter spoon will get a reaction bite and once the school is fired up you can catch several fish quickly. It seems the 5”and 6” flutter spoons are the best size to be using.
