The Damiki rig bite is the most consistent bite on the lake. The sun helps this bite because it gets the shad moving. Focus on the end of channel swing banks. Main lake channel swings seem to be better but in larger creek arms you can also find active fish. These fish are 60’-75’ deep, send the bait to the bottom and work up from there. Stay alert for fish to get active quickly. Shaking the bait or short hops seems to get the bites. It can take working the bait to the get the bites.

Occasional morning rain, otherwise thick cloud cover and colder
Temp: Hi 39˚ Low 31˚
Wind: N 7-17 mph
There is a river jig bite. The 5/8oz Jewel Pee Wee HD football HD in Basswhacker is a great starting point. These fish on timbered points that have a drop-off nearby. These fish are on the bottom in 20’-25’ of water. With forward facing sonar you may see a fish or two on the bottom or come just off the bottom, usually these are active fish. Fish the area very thoroughly and slowly. Keep the bait on the bottom to get the bites. If it feels odd or heavy set the hook.

Sunday January 28, 2024

Low clouds then some sun
Temp: Hi 43˚ Low 30˚
Wind: NNW 6-14 mph
The A-rig bite is still improving or more accurately settling in for the winter. Start by looking at deeper trees on steeper banks. Trees that are 30’-40’ deep seem to be in the right zone. The fish can be as shallow as 15’ to as deep as 30’ deep. The shallower the fish the more likely they are to be caught. Use forward facing sonar to not only locate fish but to get the bait where it needs to get a bite. Cover water to keep finding the most active fish.
