The topwater bite is still good but has shifted slightly. The buzzbait has gotten better than the plopper. Fishing shallow and having wood cover really increases the chances of getting bites. Cover water all day long to get these bites. Black is the color of choice. This bite is happening all over the lake but shallower areas with the buzzbait is better.

Partly sunny and humid.
Temp: Hi 89˚ Low 66˚
Wind: E 6-14 mph
The offshore bite structure bite continues to be solid. Go to main lake points in the rivers or on the main lake and target the rock piles, brush piles and roll offs. These key offshore structure areas in 15’-25’ is critical. Football jigs, deep crankbait, flutter spoon, and drop shot have been the best ways to get bites. It does take covering some water to find the areas have that the active fish once located can be very good on those key spots.
Sunday August 23, 2026
Hot with sunshine and a few clouds with afternoon showers around.
Temp: Hi 87˚ Low 67˚
Wind: E 5-12 mph
The brush pile bite with the big worm is a consistent bite. There are fish to catch during the day using this approach, but it can get very good at night as well. The brush piles need to be in 10’-20’ of water. Use a worm that is at least 10” long but don’t be concerned about going as large as 12” or more. Fish the brush piles thoroughly to get these fish to bite. Make sure to use heavy enough line to get the fish out of the brush quickly. Plum colored worm is the best color.
