The offshore bite structure bite continues to be solid and is the most consistent bite. It is not easy but it is the best way to get bites. Go to main lake points in the rivers or on the main lake and target the rock piles, brush piles and roll offs. These key offshore structure areas in 15’-25’ is critical. Football jigs and a drop shot are the best two ways to catch these fish. It does take covering some water to find the areas that have active fish. The football jig is getting bigger bites and the drop-shot is getting more bites. Oddly they don’t seem to work on the same spot. once located can be very good on those key spots.

The topwater bite remains good across the entire lake. It does take covering water to continuously get bites. In the backs of creek or river arms the buzzbait bite is better. Basically in shallower water. The Plopper bite is better along the 45˚ banks and small pockets or rounded points in creek arms. This is just a grind but there are fish to catch doing this. Use darker color baits that are bluegill colored.

The big worm is still around but it won’t be much longer. Find brush piles in 10’-20’ of water and really soak the worm, fish the cover completely. Use a worm that is at least 10” long but don’t be concerned about going as large as 12” or more. These can be better quality fish. Brush piles on secondary points seem to be better. Fishing in the river arms on long points is also a way to pick up a few more bites. Plum colored worm is the best color.
