The A-rig bite is starting to get dialed in, but it is not just all over the lake. Start by looking at deeper trees on steeper banks or main lake points. These trees need to be in 30’-40’ of water. The fish can be as shallow as 15’ to as deep as 30’ deep. The shallower are more easily caught. Look for fish using forward facing sonar, they are noticeable marks in the trees. Cast at these fish with the A-rig if after a little time passes and they do not bite continue to move. Plan on checking that spot later because this bite can be a timing deal. These fish can also be caught on a single swimbait.

Saturday February 3, 2024

Cloudy with a couple of showers
Temp: Hi 56˚ Low 43˚
Wind: ESE 9-23 mph
The river jig bite is happening, and the warming trend has pushed this fish a little shallower. Jewel 7/16oz finesse jig in brown and purple flash. These fish are on channel swing banks in the river arms. Really focus on the channel swing to find these fish. The fish are in 10’-20’ of water, and are positioned on the bottom. Fish the area very thoroughly and slowly. Keep the bait on the bottom to get the bites. If it feels odd or heavy set the hook. The bite is very light.

Sunday February 4, 2024

Periods of rain
Temp: Hi 49˚ Low 36˚
Wind: E 6-15 mph
With the lake coming up several feet over the week some of the brushpiles are now in the right depth to hold fish again. These fish in the brushpiles will eat a jerkbait. This is a timing deal to the max. You can see the fish in the brushpile and when its right they will come out and get the jerkbait. In some cases they will not. This takes moving to a lot of spots throughout the day. Going down a bank specifically a channel swing can you bite but the brushpiles seem to be a more regular bite. Bone and Table Rock shad are the two best colors.
