There is a shallow dock bite. It is coming fast and usually doesn’t last too long. Go to shallow docks in main lake pocket or in the river arms. The best docks have a float between the bank and the dock. This bite is usually in 3’ of water or less. A jig is usually the best bait but a Texas rigged creature bait also works. This bite is best after the sun gets up and positions the fish under the docks. Brown and green colored jigs are best with aggressive flapping trailers. A little chartreuse on the tips also helps.

The shallow topwater bite keeps changing but fish can be caught, but it’s a grind. The fish are getting very scattered so plan on covering a lot water to get bites. This is just a grind but there are better quality fish to catch doing this. It seems darker color baits are better. Shallow wood cover does seem to help position a fish.

The football jig is still a solid option; these deeper fish are more consistent than the shallow fish. This bite is better when they are pulling water. These fish are in 20’-30’ along ledges and drop offs. These are the roll-offs on long gravel points that drop into the river channel. You can some fish around these large rock rolls on FFS. If you get one bite you can usually get a couple bites on that spot. Don’t be concerned about recycling the same spots throughout the day. Use a Jewel Pee Wee football jig in brown and purple with aggressive flapping trailers.
