The glidebait bite is beginning to show up as the water temperatures start to fall. Target transition banks on the main lake or in larger secondary creek arms. There are not a lot of bites this way but these are better quality fish. This is a deal you need to stay with all day long to get bites. Use the 7”-9” glidebaits in shad colors, but add a splash to yellow or red to gill area. It is very important to keep the bait moving and not let the fish look at it too long. This would be the best way to catch the biggest fish.

The shallow topwater bite keeps changing but fish can be caught, but it’s a grind. The fish are getting very scattered so plan on covering as much water as possible with a plopper and a buzzbait to get bites. This is just a grind but there are better quality fish to catch doing this. It seems darker color baits are better. Shallow wood cover does seem to help position a fish. There are a few fish to catch on a spook, do not plan on many bites but they seem to be better quality.

The football jig is still a solid option; these deeper fish are more consistent than the shallow fish. This bite is beginning to change. The fish were grouped up now they are starting to scatter. Instead of multiple bites on one spot, it is now getting 1-2 bites on multiple spots quickly. These fish are in 10’-20’ of water. This bite is better when they are pulling water. Target ledges and drop offs, the real key to go through and cover as many spots as possible. The Jewel Pee Wee football jig in brown and purple with aggressive flapping trailers.
