The shallow topwater bite keeps going. This can be a grind but the shallow fish are around wood and larger boulder sized rocks. These fish will bite all day long. The buzzbait was better for a while but it seems the plopper style bait is best right now. Don’t be afraid to throw either and cover plenty of water focusing on the correct targets. This will get bites. Dark color baits seem best.
Saturday October 10, 2026
Mostly sunny and warm.
Temp: Hi 84˚ Low 55˚
Wind: SE 7-22 mph
The jighead minnow is coming back and fast. The water is cooling with the cooler nights. Look for this fish using FFS in the mouth of creek or in the middle of the creeks. Bait are not needed but they help the situation. These fish will move fast. Try to find areas with larger schools of fish. These will be mostly spotted bass but they are aggressive and will bite. This bite will slow a good bit later in the morning. So do your best to get bites early in the day. Use shad-colored baits.
Sunday October 11, 2026
Sunshine and very warm.
Temp: Hi 89˚ Low 61˚
Wind: WSW 6-13 mph
There is a glidebait bite. It is very spotty but it can produce large fish. With the water being down key on bluff ends that have standing timber specifically cedar trees. This is an all day grind. The fish are shallow less than 10’ deep. Move the bait fast near the surface, don’t give the fish a chance to look at the bait too long. Use larger glidebaits in the 7”-10” range. Add a little splash of color near the gill plate.
