The football jig bite on the main lake is continuing to be solid. These fish vary a bit from day-to-day depending on sun and clouds. The key depth range is 5’-25’. Gravel mixed with some larger rock has been important. It seems the browns and greens are the best colors and use an aggressive trailer with a little orange or chartreuse. Also check the secondary points closest to the main lake.

Saturday October 24, 2026

Partly sunny.
Temp: Hi 79˚  Low 49˚
Wind: SE 6-12 mph
The jighead minnow is good right now.  Look for balls of bait fish along channel swing banks. The bait fish are moving fast and so are the bass. These fish can be from the surface to 45’ deep. Use FFS to scan for the balls of shad, once you find some shad it should not be to difficult to fish bass chasing them. Look for groups of fish from 3-10 in numbers, they will be aggressive. If they don’t move on and find more fish. It seems the fish want large baits so use shad-colored baits in the 4”-6” sizes.

Sunday October 25, 2026

Periods of clouds and sun.
Temp: Hi 76˚  Low 51˚
Wind: ESE 5-13 mph
The plopper and buzzbait topwater bite keeps going. The biggest factor to continuously get bites doing this is to cover water. Along the way if you see a larger rock or wood cover all the better but keep the boat moving and cover miles of water. These fish will bite all day long, but you must stay with it. The buzzbait seems to be a slightly better option, but this is a day-to-day thing. Don’t be afraid to throw either. Dark color baits seem best. This bite is better in the river arms and larger creeks.
