Wart/Crawler time is upon us. Focus on 45˚ chunk rock banks near the end of channels swings. This is main lake in the river arms or larger creek deal. Fish long stretches of these types of banks first then once you see where the bites are coming from focus on the ends of channel swings. Use a natural craw that has some orange or red in it. Sunny days and wind seems to help this bite.
Saturday February 10, 2024
Partly sunny and cooler
Temp: Hi 50˚ Low 36˚
Wind: NE 6-12 mph
The jig bite in in almost the same areas as the wiggle wart bite. A Jewel 7/16oz finesse jig in brown and purple flash. These fish are on channel swing banks in the river arms. Really focus on the channel swing to find these fish. The fish are in 10’-20’ of water, and are positioned on the bottom. Keep the bait on the bottom and fish slow and thoroughly to get the bites. If it feels odd or heavy set the hook. The bite is very light.
Sunday February 11, 2024
Cloudy and cooler
Temp: Hi 41˚ Low 30˚
Wind: ENE 7-20 mph
The fish have moved up with the lake coming up so much over the last two weeks. Standing timber at the ends of channel swing banks, especially if the bank is a little steeper at the end. This is the subtle difference between catching wiggle wart fish and jerkbait fish on a channel swing. How steep and type of rock. The pause does not have to be too long only 2-3 seconds. The will be in less than 20’ of water.
