Weather Conditions
Friday April 12, 2024
Mostly sunny
Temp: Hi 69˚ Low 50˚
Wind: WNW 8-20 mph
There are still deep swimbait fish to catch. Check the main lake and secondary points as these fish begin going shallower to spawn. Look for isolated fish in small groups of four or less, that are higher up in the water column. These fish are more aggressive, and they could even be chasing shad, but shad are not required to catch these fish. The sun will help push the shad up. Use a 1/4oz head with swimbait or shad looking bait of your choice.
Saturday April 13, 2024
Mostly sunny and warmer
Temp: Hi 79˚ Low 60˚
Wind: SW 12-30 mph
The split-shot bite is here but it is specific. Look for fish farther back in the creeks on secondary points or gravel areas. There are even fish still on transition banks. With the wind on this day the bite could be good but hard to detect. Use a 1/4oz weight due to the wind. Green pumpkin and watermelon-colored French fries are a good choice in these conditions. Also try a small lizard or brush hog.
Sunday April 14, 2024
Mostly sunny and very warm
Temp: Hi 83˚ Low 61˚
Wind: WSW 10-21 mph
The wind is going to blow and its been several days of warmer than normal temperatures, so water temperatures will rise quickly. Pick one of the river arms and throw a chatterbait or spinnerbait. Cover lots of water. Look for mixed rock banks that go into spawning pockets. Also key in on gravel areas or spawning areas and look for cover like large rocks or wood cover in the water. These fish should be shallow, but cover water all day long and use the wind to your advantage.
