Weather Conditions
Friday April 26, 2024
Cloudy with a thunderstorm becoming windier and warmer
Temp: Hi 69˚ Low 64˚
Wind: S 16-39 mph
If you like to sight fish this might be the best day to do it early in the morning otherwise look for wind protected areas to try and find bed fish. There is a good wave of fish becoming locked onto the beds so they are catchable it will come down to being able to see them. Use white and chartreuse colored baits to help see the bait on the beds. Usually look for deeper beds to get bigger fish but those fish will need to be located prior to try and catch them in the wind and cloud cover.
Saturday April 27, 2024
Humid and warmer with a thick cloud cover
Temp: Hi 79˚ Low 63˚
Wind: S 12-27 mph
Find gravel pockets and points and drag. There are three great options to use a Ned rig, shaky head and a tube. Fish the bait from 3’-15’ deep. If the gravel has be any portion of the bank with larger rock fish that area very thoroughly. Plan on using a bit heavier head than normal to keep the bait on the bottom and still be able to feel it. Green pumpkin anything with a little chartreuse dip on the end will do the trick.
Sunday April 28, 2024
Cloudy and not as warm with a couple of thunderstorms.
Temp: Hi 68˚ Low 36˚
Wind: S 10-29 mph
The wind will be the same direction for three days and again on this day the wind will blow. If you are up to covering lots of water and getting the not a lot of bites but the right bites throw a spinnerbait or chatterbait. Use either with gold blades in overcast conditions. White and chartreuse are great starting points, also colors that are darker that resemble a bluegill. Fish the same type of areas with pockets and points where fish should be spawning, but cover lots of water. When using the chatterbait fish it slower and closer to the bottom in 1’-12’ of water. If you stop feeling the vibration, set the hook.
