Weather Conditions
Friday May 10, 2024

Mostly sunny
Temp: Hi 68˚ Low 50˚
Wind: NNW 8-20 mph
Hard to beat dragging gravel to get bites this time of year. You can catch all four species doing this right now. Use a shakey head with a bulkier type of bait like a Magnum trick worm or Senko. Use a Ned Rig or a smaller size Sweet Beaver. All these baits give a bulkier profile and seem to be working very well right now. This can be done in clear water or water with some stain. Look for gravel banks or points not far from where fish spawned.

Mostly sunny
Temp: Hi 75˚ Low 55˚
Wind: NW 8-15 mph
The sunnier the day the better the flipping bite it up the rivers. Look for bushes and log jams or any type of wood cover to get bites. There are a couple of baits to use, and it seems to depend on the day. A creature bait of your choice, but it needs to be compact like a Sweet Beaver. A bigger flipping type of tube bait or a jig. Green pumpkin seems to be the color of choice and do not be afraid to add a little chartreuse dye. Just keep keying on the bushes and keep moving to cover new water.

Sunday May 12, 2024

Clouds and sunshine.
Temp: Hi 78˚ Low 58˚
Wind: SSE 6-14 mph
There is a topwater bite, but it is very specific and almost limited to the areas where the shad are spawning in the mornings. Cloudy days are better as the bite seems to last a little bit longer. Look for boat docks that have surface activity. Don’t get caught staying in one area too long unless you are catching fish. If they are just blowing up on it but not eating it find more fish. A larger shower blow seems to be the bait of choice also a spook. Bone color is the best option.
