The summertime drop-shot pattern is here. There are two keys areas they seem to be on docks and in the deeper trees. The end of the dock or near the cables is the best place to start checking. The next spot is to find deep trees on flats. The water depth could be 40’-50’ deep and the fish suspended in 20’-25’. They are comfortable in these deeper trees. The shad shaped baits in shad colors seem to be working the best. Try to find more aggressive fish that come up to the bait.

Humid with intervals of clouds and sunshine.
Temp: Hi 89˚ Low 71˚
Wind: SSE 8-17 mph
The Jewel Pee Wee football jig and a Carolina rig bite is taking shape in the river arms. The fish are little shallower than normal for this bite for this time of year it might be due to the current in the lake. This is purely a timing deal. You can fish in several areas with no bites then hit the right area and catch multiple fish. Fish gravel points or flats with deeper water nearby. The fish tend to be from 12’-25’ deep. It varies based on the day. Start the day shallow and work out to the deeper water. A brushog with a little chartreuse to the tail. If you are using a jig add chartreuse to the pinchers. A side note the deep crankbait bite is not happening yet but getting close.

There are fish on the docks throughout the lake, the tough part is finding the docks that have active fish. Starting in the about the 25’ range pitch spoons to open slips or around the dock especially the shady side of the dock. The bigger flutter spoon is a better option to begin with and it seems to be catching better quality fish. These fish tend to be in the boat slips. The slab spoon is better on the end of the docks or on the shady side of the dock. These fish could be in the range of 15’-40’ feet of water but are generally suspending not very far below the floats. Plan on fishing a lot of docks to find the one that has active fish. If shad are present all the better and try to find the clearest water possible.
