The drop-shot at the ends of docks bite is still around but it is starting to fade. It happens best early in the morning and when they are pulling water. Key on active fish near the cables at the end of the docks attached to the dead men. These fish are usually 15’-25’ deep and can be caught quickly. Use a shad shape worm in a shad color or the plum 4” drop-shot worm. If the fish do not react to the bait, immediately move to the next dock. When the sun gets high the fish move under the docks. This bite is best early in the day so plan on fishing as many docks as possible to find the active fish.

Mostly sunny
Temp: Hi 92˚ Low 70˚
Wind: SSW 7-14 mph
The big flutter spoon bite is getting pretty good. This can happen in two places. The first is on points with active fish. This bite is usually early in the day and when they are pulling water. The more consistent flutter spoon bite is around docks. The fish tend to be on the deep end of the docks, but could be just below the floats. Start fishing the flutter spoon in a water depth of 25’ and work out to 40’ deep along the dock. Keep a close eye on the line. The bite can be anywhere. The fish caught doing this tend to be better quality.

Temp: Hi 93˚ Low 71˚
Wind: SSE 6-14 mph
The deep crankbait bite has given away to the Carolina rig or a football jig. For the most part the fish are still in the same areas but what they are biting has changed. Fish gravel points and roll offs in the river arms to get the bites. The Jewel Pee Wee HD football jig seems to be preferred. On a Carolina rig throw a big brush hog and be sure to add some chartreuse to the tails and the leader only needs to be about 18” in length. The fish really want these baits pinned to the bottom. The fish can be from 12’-25’deep. One thing that has not changes is it is a timing deal. One point you will catch them and the next there will be none. This bite is better when they are running water.
