The plopper bite is still happening but it is changing regularly. Fish shallow gravel flats in less than 10’ of water that have cover. It can be wood or larger isolated rocks that will hold the fish. These fish can be in the backs of creeks one day or on rounded gravel flat points that are in creek arms. It seems to be based on where the gizzard shad or sunfish are located on any given day. Plan on moving to as many locations throughout the day to keep getting bites.
Saturday September 21, 2024
Very warm and humid with some sun then turning cloudy.
Temp: Hi 93˚ Low 70˚
Wind: SE 7-13 mph
There is a jig bite around docks, but it adjusts daily and sometimes during the day. Fish docks that tend to be on mostly gravel banks in pockets and creek arms. The fish tend to be in 10’ of water or less. However some days they can be less than 5’ deep and other they are 10’ deep. This can be based on sun wind and where the bait is located around any dock. Use a jig that mimics a sunfish and put a little chartreuse on the trailers. Plan on fishing as many docks as possible to fish where the fish are positioned once that is dialed in just fish that pattern.
Sunday September 22, 2024
Partly sunny and humid with a thunderstorm in spots.
Temp: Hi 87˚ Low 60˚
Wind: SSW 7-16 mph
The drop-shot bite is probably the most consistent bite going right now. These fish really move from day-to-day, but it seems the fish want to be 20’-30’ deep in trees. The depth of the trees can be anywhere from 40’-80’ of water. If you find a small group of fish, they are usually aggressive and active, but these fish will keep moving. Plan on moving a lot during the day to keep fishing fish. When water is being pulled the shad tends to group up more making it easier to find active fish. Shad shaped and colored soft plastic baits seem to be the best right now. Also try white.
