Cloudy with an afternoon shower.
Temp: Hi 54˚ Low 45˚
Wind: SE 8-22 mph
The Wart/Crawler bite continues to improve. With the water dropping over a foot in the last week it has helped this crankbait bite. These fish are on 45˚ banks that have larger rocks mixed with them. There also seems to be better concentration of fish at the rock changes of channel swings. Several fish can be caught in these spots. Finding the right banks is better than just fishing down long stretches of bank. Use the wind to your advantage to get more bites. This bite can be found in rivers and in the clear water, but it is bank specific. Use crawfish-colored Rock Crawlers crankbaits.
Saturday December 14, 2024
Rain tapering off, otherwise mild with increasing sun.
Temp: Hi 59˚ Low 35˚
Wind: SSW 7-20 mph
The swimbait/Damiki bite still seems to be the best bite on the lake. The fish are moving into the creeks. Select larger creek arms that have splits and start in the guts of these creeks looking for shad pods or small groups of bass. Target these fish with shad-colored swimbaits and Damiki rigs. These fish move very fast right now as they feed up. So it can be a challenge to stay with them. The shallower the fish the more aggressive they are and willing to eat the bait. If they don’t bite immediately, find the next group of fish. Don’t stay in one place too long if you are not getting bites. Keep moving until you find active fish and plan on covering a lot of water during the day.
Sunday December 15, 2024
Plenty of sunshine.
Temp: Hi 63˚ Low 52˚
Wind: SSE 7-20 mph
The glide bait is still producing, it seems to be best on sunny days, but it doesn’t mean you can catch fish on it any day. With the water being pulled the most active fish on the glide bait are related to trees, mostly cedar trees on bluff banks. This bite is better while they are pulling water. It seems to position the fish better in the trees and they are more aggressive. The fish seem to be in a small area. If you see fish high in a tree that is a fish to target. Plan on covering lots of water. Use a glide bait that is shad-colored but has a flash of red or yellow on the bottom.
