The Rock Crawler bite is pretty good right now. They are pulling water and this positioning the fish, especially in the rivers. On the main river fish 45˚ banks that have larger rocks mixed with them. Really key in on the channel swings at the end of the 45˚ banks. These fish are as shallow as 3’ up to about 8’ deep. Cloudy days help this bite. Use crawfish-colored Rock Crawlers crankbaits. With the river fish being so shallow a wiggle wart might be better than a Crawler but its your preference.

Saturday December 28, 2024

Mostly cloudy and mild.
Temp: Hi 56˚ Low 44˚
Wind: SE 7-17 mph
Prime cloudy days with some wind are good spinnerbait days right now. This is better in the river arms but can be done all over the lake. Slow roll a larger spinnerbait down to the 3’-5’ range. These are better quality fish. Key on 45˚ banks that have larger rock or wood on them. The more wood the better for the spinnerbait bite. Use a white spinnerbait with a larger rear willow leaf blade and small Colorado blade. Plan on moving all day long and cover lots of water during the day.

Sunday December 29, 2024

Partly sunny and mild.
Temp: Hi 60˚ Low 42˚
Wind: WNW 6-17 mph
The swimbait/Damiki bite is here to stay through the winter. There are two places to look for fish. In the large creek arms on the main lake where the fish looking for shad. Target any groups of bass with shad-colored swimbaits and Damiki rigs. These fish are on the move with the shad. The small groups of bass that are higher in the water column are the most catchable fish and most aggressive. If they don’t bite immediately, find the next group of fish. Keep moving, don’t get caught trying to make the fish bite, find new fish.
