Mild with sun giving way to increasing clouds; a brief afternoon shower.
Temp: Hi 55˚ Low 26˚
Wind: SSW 9-28 mph
The A-rig bite is starting to happen. Key on main lake bluff ends with standing timber. Look for fish that are actively chasing shad or small groups suspended near the timber. This bite is much better when water is being generated. Use a standard A-rig of your choice. It seems smaller shad-colored baits are better on the outer rigs and a larger shad swimbait in a slightly darker color with a chartreuse tail is better on the center rig. Long cast get the bait to the right depth and reel slowly.

Saturday January 18, 2025

Mostly cloudy and much colder.
Temp: Hi 31˚ Low 11˚
Wind: N 10-27 mph
The Rock Crawler bite is better in the rivers. These fish seem to be shallow. This bite is considerably better when they are pulling water, it really helps to position the fish. There are two areas to focus on. The first is 45˚ banks that have wood or larger rocks along the bank. The second are the ends of channel swings. These fish are consistently in 6’-8’ of water or less. Cloudy and windy days help this bite. Use crawfish-colored Rock Crawlers crankbaits and fish the wind.

Sunday January 19, 2025

Plenty of sunshine.
Temp: Hi 23˚ Low 7˚
Wind: NNW 10-28 mph
The swimbait/Damiki bite is still going strong and likely the most consistent way to get bites. The shad have moved into the creek arms, but there are still main lake shad as well. The main lake fish are more catchable and aggressive but more spread out over a greater area. Look for small groups of fish around groups of shad. Use shad-colored swimbaits and Damiki rigs. The small groups of bass that are higher in the water column are the most catchable fish and most aggressive. Plan on being on the trolling motor and looking at the FFS screen all day.
