Friday December 8, 2023

Mostly cloudy, breezy and mild with a shower in the afternoon
Temp: Hi 60˚ Low 42˚
Wind: S 15-31 mph
The wiggle wart and rock crawler bites are very specific but very repeatable. The fish are 5’-10’ deep on channel swing banks and chunk rock banks that are windblown. This is very specific for the positioning of the fish. Fish the banks where the wind hits the bank directly and parallel the bank. The boat will be in roughly 12’ of water. Pay close attention to any wood cover in the water or larger rocks in that depth range.

Saturday December 9, 2023

Cloudy
Temp: Hi 52˚ Low 28˚
Wind: NW 7-20 mph
The best glide bait bite has finally arrived during the fall season. It usually happens when the water is 55˚-60˚. Fish a glide bait on windy ledge and chunk rock banks that have standing timber. The wind does not have to be directly on the bank, its more about some current and breaking up the surface of the water. Sunny days produce better when the fish are in the timber because it positions the fish on the cover. You only must fish the bait a couple of feet deep but keep the bait moving, don’t give the fish time to look at the bait. Right now fish caught on a glide bait are the right kind of fish. Plan on covering lots of water in a day.

Sunday December 10, 2023

Mostly sunny
Temp: Hi 44˚ Low 30˚
Wind: NW 7-20 mph
As the water cools fish are starting to show up in the guts of the creeks. These fish seem to be deep and can be on the bottom. The key is to find shad in these guts. The shad are currently half to three quarters of the way back in the creeks, but they are not in every creek. So it might take some time to find the shad once you do there are active fish to catch. Fish just below or around the depth of the shad. These fish are aggressive and moving following the shad. A spoon and Damiki rig using a vertical presentation seem to be the best way to catch these fish.
