Friday February 21, 2025

Times of clouds and sun.
Temp: Hi 30˚ Low 19˚
Wind: SE 6-8 mph
The A-rig bite is the best bite is the best way to catch fish right now. There are two areas to focus your efforts. Look at the main lake and secondary points, this is especially true when they are pulling water. The fish can be anywhere from 5’-30’ deep and can be up to 50’-60’ of water. If there are shad present all the better but shad are not needed to catch fish.  It seems smaller shad-colored baits are better on the outer rigs and a larger shad swimbait in a slightly darker color with a chartreuse tail is better on the center rig.

Saturday February 22, 2025

Plenty of sunshine.
Temp: Hi 41˚ Low 28˚
Wind: SW 6-16 mph
The damiki/swimbait is working better. These fish change so much it can be hard to find them regularly. However currently it seems these fish are positioned near the mouth of creeks throughout the lake, and are either just in or just out of the mouth of the creeks. The fish are scattered and suspended from 10’-40’ in the water column. Key on either fish that are chasing shad or higher in the water column or smaller “wolf pack” groups. The fish that are higher in the water column are actively feeding fish and more catchable. These fish are also moving fast and can be a challenge to stay with during the day. Use FFS to locate fish and keep moving to location all day to keep finding active fish.

Sunday February 23, 2025

Mostly sunny and mild.
Temp: Hi 54˚ Low 36˚
Wind: WSW 8-15 mph
The jerkbait bite is coming around. It is specific and day-to-day. Throw the jerkbait on bluff ends with timber. The fish that will bite the jerkbait are suspended in the trees in 5’-10’ of water. It does not have to have a long pause just a second or two. It also seems its best to pause the bait just before and after the tree. The fish seem to come out and get it as the bait is going away. The best colors seem to be bone or something with a little yellow on the body. Sun and wind should make this bite better.
