The damiki/swimbait/jighead minnow is still working. Look for fish to be from the mouth of the creek to ¾ of the way back, particularly the larger creeks. Look for groups of shad. They don’t have to be large groups but shad present. The most catchable fish are from the surface to 20’ deep with the shad present. Plan on looking at FFS to locate fish all day long. The biggest factor in continuing to catch fish is to keep moving all day to keep finding active fish. This bite is best early in the morning and can be over by noon. Move quickly and make accurate casts.

The 2.8 Keitech is catching fish right now, focusing on secondary points with chunk rock and gravel mixed. The fish are in 10’-20’ of water. These are fish that are staging up to spawn soon. Look for the secondary points that lead right into gravel pockets. Some fish will be suspended but don’t be afraid to scrub the bait on the bottom. Use shad-colored baits.

The A-rig bite is the best bite is the best way to catch fish right now. Key on main lake and secondary points with timber. The fish are either on the bank or holding the trees that are 5’-10’. When water is being pulled it really is positioning the fish on these points. Using shad-colored baits is better on the outer rigs and a larger shad swimbait for the middle bait in a slightly darker color with a chartreuse tail is better on the center rig.
