Throw your preferred glide bait of choice on steeper banks with timber. The key to any bank is if there is gizzard shad present. You can hit several banks with nothing and then the right bank and catch several quickly. If you see large gizzard shad on your FFS all the better. Keep the bait moving and key in on timber especially cedar trees. Right now fish caught on a glide bait are the right kind of fish. Plan on covering lots of water in a day, so key in on the right banks.

Saturday December 23, 2023

Cloudy and mild with spotty drizzle in the morning followed by rain in the afternoon.
Temp: Hi 62˚ Low 51˚
Wind: SSE 6-15 mph
The guts of creeks are really getting right in this early winter phase. The shad are not in every gut or creek so use your electronics to find the shad. Once you find the shad there should be active fish. The shad are currently half to three quarters of the way back in the creeks. As far as baits are concerned it is a day-to-day thing. It could be an ice jig or Jewel scuba spoon and the next day a Damiki rig. More aggressive fish seem to the like the fast erratic fall of the heavier baits less aggressive more vertical. Use baits that look like a shad.

Sunday December 24, 2023

Mostly cloudy and mild with periods of rain in the afternoon.
Temp: Hi 58˚ Low 52˚
Wind: SE 8-21 mph
The shallow jig bite is still happening. Brush piles are the key but almost any wood cover or larger boulders in the water can hold fish. The key depth is 8’-15’ deep. The Jewel 5/16oz Pee Wee Spider HD in Basswhacker seems to be working well. It comes through the brush but gets to the bottom quickly. The fish seem to be on the bottom.  Fish the bait slow and pay close attention for a bite. If it feels like nothing set the hook. Add a little orange to the trailer.
