The fishing forecast is constructed using a mix of historical data, tournament results, weather patterns and general lake conditions. One of the biggest elements is using actual information from recent time on the water. This gives a general snapshot of some of the best ways to catch fish at that current time.

Wind: SSE 6-15 mph
With it being the Fourth of July and boat traffic likely being heavy this might be a good day to fish at first light and be off the water by 10am. With that in mind there is a buzzbait bite in the upper river arms, particularly the Kinds and the White. Key on steeper banks that have fewer bushes than areas that have a lot of bushes in the water. Cast the bait right to the shoreline as shallow as possible and make sure to get that bait engaged quickly the fish can be that shallow. Bring the buzzbait near any cover and fish it at a nice steady pace. Your choice black or white and don’t be afraid to replace the skirt with a frog body.

Saturday July 5, 2025

Humid with periods of clouds and sunshine.
Temp: Hi 86˚ Low 70˚
Wind: SSW 6-13 mph
The offshore bite continues to be the best on the lake. As long as they keep pulling water it should remain that way. Depending on the part of the lake you are in drop-shot, spoons and deep diving crankbaits. These fish are positioned on gravel points throughout the lake. This has been a fun way to catch fish this year. Drop-shots and spoons on the main lake, the crankbait is better in the river arms. The fish are in 20’-30’ of water. There are also quite a few walleye mixed in with the bass. If the bite slows just look for the next point.

Sunday July 6, 2025

Intervals of clouds and sunshine with a thunderstorm in spots.
Temp: Hi 86˚ Low 69˚
Wind: W 5-14 mph
The brushpile and big worm bite is starting to pick up. This should get better as the water levels drop to more normal pool levels. Target brushpiles on main lake and secondary points. Use a 10” worm or bigger. The ribbon tails style seems to be working better but use the one you like best. Use 1/4oz to 1/2oz weight. If using FFS look close in the brushpiles sometimes the fish is there but missed on FFS. Target brush piles in 20’-30’ of water. Plan on bouncing to a lot of brushpiles during the day.
