If you are looking for a better-quality bite pick up a glide bait and cover as much water as possible. You will cover miles of lake during the day but the quality is noticeably better. Key on main lake and secondary points that have some type of wood cover. This can be standing timber or laydowns/brushpiles. It seems this bite can be better if water is being generated but overall it does not seem to make that much difference. Keep the bait moving and it seems the bigger shad style baits are working better.
Saturday September 6, 2025
A thunderstorm in spots in the morning, otherwise sun and some clouds.
Temp: Hi 74˚ Low 52˚
Wind: E 5-13 mph
The water temperature is slowly beginning to drop. The underspin or small swimbait bite has picked up. This has been around main lake points. It is important to be using FFS to pick up the fish, they are usually in small groups. These fish are in 10’-20’ water. Use a 3/8 or 1/2oz underspin head or lead head with a 3.3 Keitech. Use the shad color of your choice.
Sunday September 7, 2025
Mostly sunny.
Temp: Hi 78˚ Low 52˚
Wind: NNE 5-7 mph
The dock bite is still happening, and it seems to be the best bite on the lake right now. However there are two different type of dock bites. The first is the shallow dock bite. Use a 5/16 or 3/8oz finesse jig under walkways. Fish this as shallow as possible. Use a brown and green color jig that mimics a bluegill. The second part of the dock bite is fishing the deep end of the dock with a slab or flutter spoon, your choice. The fish are suspended in 10’-20’ of water so the bite will happen quickly if they are in position. Fish lots of docks to get these bites.
