There is deep jig and minnow bite starting and improving, but it changes day-to-day. Target main lake channel swings and the mouth of larger creeks. The biggest key is finding or relocating the shad each day. Use FFS to find the shad. Once the shad are located, you will find fish. Use shad-colored bait and whatever size lead head it takes to get to the depth the fish are at quickly. The fish are moving fast. Usually a 1/2oz does what is needed. Do not get stuck in one spot unless the fish continue to bite quickly. Plan on moving to many spots during the day looking for shad.

Sunshine.
Temp: Hi 76˚ Low 46˚
Wind: WSW 14-30 mph
The Rock Crawler bite seems to be strong across the entire lake, and good quality fish are catchable. Focus on channel swing banks in creek arms that have wind blowing on them. The more direct the wind the better but there really needs to be some wind hitting the bank. Fish the Rock Crawler in roughly 8’-15’ of water. This can vary slightly depending on cloud cover and how direct the wind is hitting the bank. Fish the Rock Crawler steady not too fast or too slow just a nice steady retrieve. Green and brown-colored Rock Crawlers seem to work the best.

The football jig bite continues to catch fish. In years when the water level is stable to slightly dropping during the fall months this bite can be good. This year is no exception. Focus on main lake and secondary points that have gravel with some larger rock mixed in with then or wood cover. There also seem to be some fish that will eat a jig on the bluff ends. Use the lightest jig you can use to catch this fish. The fish tend to be 15’-20’ but can range from 5’-30’ deep. Use brown jigs with compact yet bulky trailers and add a little orange to the bait.
