Weather Conditions
Friday October 13, 2023

A shower in spots in the morning; otherwise times of sun and clouds
Temp: Hi 70˚ Low 45˚
Wind: SW 10-28 mph
The topwater bite is tough but it does exist. With this being a windy day look for banks that have wind or chop but not too much. Key on bluff banks with a Buzzbait or whopper plopper. The plopper will probably be better in the wind over the Buzzbait. Plan on covering a lot of water. When you get one bite you can usually get another bite or two in close proximity. Keep moving don’t fish one area too long. Black seems to the be the color of choice. If the topwater isn’t working try a spinnerbait in the same areas.

Saturday October 14, 2023

Cooler with intervals of clouds and sun
Temp: Hi 57˚ Low 46˚
Wind: NW 12-28 mph
The jig bite continues to improve. Go about halfway back in major creek arms throughout the lake. Use a 7/16oz Jewel Pee Wee Spider HD in any brown or green color you prefer. Use a green pumpkin trailer but make sure you put orange on the trailer. Key in on wood cover, channel swings or any slight changes in the bank. Keep moving to find new water in the creeks and key on the wood cover. This is a great way to catch several fish. In the high wind and with some cloud cover you can also throw a spinnerbait in these areas.

Sunday October 15, 2023

Cool with periods of clouds and sunshine
Temp: Hi 58˚ Low 40˚
Wind: N 8-20 mph
The drop-shot bite is still consistent. Using forward facing sonar focus on gravel points with timber. The fish are positioned in the trees. The fish will be in 25’-40’ of water but the trees can be as deep as 70’. Usually trees around 50’ are the best. Look for small groups of roaming fish, these are usually the most aggressive and catchable. Also look for shad balls. In most cases there are fish around the shad balls. The plum worm seems to be working best right now, but shad colored bait are also working.
